hallway

hallway 1
Another diorama. This time, I tried to evoke the feeling of waking up in the middle of the night, and then realizing a light is on somewhere in the rest of the house. Depending on the circumstances, it can either be disorienting or comforting.

Thank you so much for all the kind Big Toy comments - more Big Toy photos coming soon - I want to take him out on the town. If I thought taking photos of 12-inch-high toys in public spaces was awkward or embarrassing... hoo boy. I have a feeling Mr. Big will attract some attention.

that is a very interesting and evocative image and thought - I know the feeling you are talking about. And I am looking forward to hearing about Mr Big's first outing...

I love the colors in this and the amount of information and mood you get across with such simple silhouettes. For me it brought back that feeling of being little and lying in bed while the grownups were still awake, looking at the light through a crack in the bedroom door and wondering what exciting things were going on out there, feeling both comforted by the activity but also a little lost in the dark. (Clearly someone needed a night light!)

I'm interested to know what you use for your light source with these pictures. It's something I've struggled with in similar endeavors, and I really like the effect you achieve.

You captured it perfectly! I felt it straight away (that middle-of-the-night feeling...which I have been feeling a lot lately, with a young baby!).
Beautiful.

I love this. I love the fact that you can just barely make out details; like the pictures on the wall.

Beautiful, almost haunting, piece.

I love this diorama! It does exactly as you say! You can feel yourself in that corridor, experiencing that middle of the night disorientation, wondering did I leave the light on or is there someone else in the house.....really great!!
