bloggy

mail
Hello. Thank you for all the great comments on the fabric.

Blogging is kind of strange, don't you think? Is there any historical precedent for it? Sometimes I think it's a lot like having a column in a newspaper, then I think it's more akin to show & tell in elementary school.

Anyway, one of the most unexpected but extremely positive results of my starting this here blog (that you are currently reading) has been the really great people I've met, either in person or through email and letters. Events of this week have really brought this home... I continue to be amazed by the people whose blogs I read, or who comment on my blog, or who post stuff on flickr. I'm about to get slightly name-droppy but I really wanted to share all the cool blog-related stuff that's happened this week...

So Thursday I went to a birthday party for Lisa C. at Diana's apartment - Lisa S., Shash, and Mati were also there. It was ridiculously fun. Every single one of these women are funny, smart, and talented... Then on Friday I received an amazing little package from Abby - we're trading some moo cards, and hers are so incredible, but she also stuck some little collages in there that made my day. Friday night I went to Rain's birthday party - I've known Rain since before either of us had a blog, but she inspired me to have one of my own, and I read hers every day. It's hilarious. Rachael and Chuck were there, both of whom have fabulous blogs that you must read. Then on Saturday, I received a beautiful neck-warmer in the mail from Natasha (her blog is here). She read this post about my sad cold apartment, and sent me something to help keep warm. And all week I've been getting really great comments about the fabric I printed...

Holy moly. Blogging is sometimes hard - it's hard to figure out what my "voice" is, how much to reveal, it's sometimes difficult for me to find things I want to write about, or to find the time or energy - but after a week like this it seems worth it. More than worth it. Thanks for reading.

Thanks for putting it all into words, Ms. Hutch. Blogging is strange, but kind of wonderful. I love these little peeks into the creative worlds of people like you (that fabric! as good as anything in existence!), and I personally find the structure of having a place to muse and show-and-tell surprisingly satisfying. Carry on!

Thanks for the kind words, and for helping me get stinking drunk on my birthday. I'll tell you, I "blogged" the next day, and I'm not talkin' writing.

This post captures my sentiments exactly. I don't think I realized just how much networking (a word I dislike--maybe connecting is better?) could be done through a simple thing like a blog. I never liked networking sites like myspace or facebook so it's amazing to me that talking about the things I like and make could put me in touch with so many people. Great post.

you are so sweet! it is so shocking to hear you say that blogging is hard for you because it seems so effortless, like everything you do just oozes out of your pores...i must say, i lurk more than i should, but i adore your work, it is just so happy and fun and frickin cute, i fear i cannot bear it. sigh. anyway, you didn't need to send me anything at all, but i love it. the fabric, i think i will just make a square pillow out of it with some fuschia corduroy a have. i am sure to send a pic...and the card! so cute! i lurve it. the moo cards are really cute, i must say, but a big part of it is that your photos are fantastic, really. i got insanely cheap business cards with full color bleed from vistaprint and you can get postcards, bookmarks all sorts of stuff for next to nothing, they even have free offers that you just pay for shipping and 5 bucks extra if you want to load your own image. if you rigged it to be a double image, you could cut a business card in half and make little mooos. okay, not a 100 different ones, but a few, no? just my cheap mind thinking. i thought it as soon as i saw your cutie ones.

i hope you are a bit warmer! be glad you aren't in pennsylvania, it is ACTUALLY very cold and snowy! go figure! for a while your end of the country was colder than ours!

I too wonder if my blog sounds more like show and tell than a column. Yours is delightful. Wish you'd sell your creatures, they are wonderful.
