modern cookies

It's been a cold and gray week, and it's been raining hard for a day or so... so I decided to bake some colorful cookies this morning. Aren't they so very colorful and modern? They look sort of inedible but I assure you they are quite buttery and tasty. I used the refrigerator cookie recipe from the beloved Betty Crocker's Cooky Book (my mom got my sis and I the reproduction editions that came out a few years ago). Then I just put a whole lot of food coloring in the dough. A whole, whole lot. I hope they aren't toxic.
I have been thinking a lot about the Kim family this week - my heart goes out to them. Lisa, Stephanie, and their mom are organizing a benefit art/craft auction, please visit Lisa's blog for more information (I will link to the auction site once it goes live).

They are lovely! And with all the fun of PlayDoh, plus good taste too? - that's a winning combination...
(save me the one that looks like an olive, pretty please??? Thanks, sweet girl!) ;)
This Betty Crocker cookbook is my fave holiday cookie cookbook! (The chocolate crinkles are awesome.) I love your Play Doh butter cookies - fab colors, esp. the chartruese.
Hey, that olive cookie is cool. (my husband and I just got back from seeing the new James Bond movie and have martinis on the brain)
Super cute!
Hi, I'm Katie, I've been reading this blog since your Kate pattern came out.
The cookies are really cute, but I'm getting a salty playdoh taste in my mouth looking at them! They look just like slices of playdoh. I should make some cookies.
The cookies are awesome. Very Grinch-stole-Christmas.
what IS toxic, really? and i mean that in a existentialist kind of way. heee.
happy holidays sweetie!
