I'm getting married in less than a month, in Las Vegas, NV. There are so many things to do, and so many things to fret about, that I can't concentrate on doing anything creative. I'll fuss over something for a half hour or so, then give up. It seems the only things I can do to relax these days is read George Eliot and think about how this season of "Lost" is going to end.

When the wedding is over I plan to return to making strange knitted creatures and posting pics of them on this here blog. In the meantime, here is an image of a strange little plastic bride & groom we found at Fantastico, a HUGE silk flower/party supply warehouse south of Market here in SF. If you live in the area I definitely recommend a trip.

I love this little couple - they look like two kids in wedding clothes wearing lipstick. Which is what weddings are really all about, right?

Jeff and I have a lot of stuff. Our apartment has been described as "like a museum," although I'm not sure what kind - a museum of trash American culture, perhaps? In any case, when we moved in I started to see themes in our gew gaws (monsters, toys, religious) and decided to display things around the house in little dioramas, or tableaux, or whatever you call thematic or dramatic groupings of things. Here's one - it's sort of a dangerous tropical nightclub scene, with the Creature from the Black Lagoon, day of the dead figurines, sixties dollhouse furniture, and a black velvet painting.

I find this kind of thing very creatively satisfying. It's simultaneously home decorating, playing with a dollhouse, collecting, organizing, and displaying.
