knitty

Hey! I have a pattern in the new knitty! Check her out - her name is Kate, and she's a kitten in britches.

To explain the kitten in britches thing - apparently, at some point in the past, if you were to ask a particularly witty person "what's that for?" they might have answered "cat's fur to make kitten's britches". This kind of pun (for/fur) is incredibly humorous to me, as is the image of a kitten in pants. You can read more about it here.

I hope you like Kate, and if you make Kate, send me a photo. That would be marvy.

Also, I will have more booklets up for sale tomorrow at around 6pm, California time. When you visit the booklet page around that time there will be buttons you can click that will allow you to purchase the book through paypal. Make sure to click the right button for your area of the world!

Another great pattern! I really like the photo name too (which I saw before it loaded) "couldn't you just plotz from the cuteness". Yes. Yes, I could. And hopefully I can get one made by Christmas.

When I saw Kate on the cover of Knitty, I knew you had to be her creator! She's adorable. I recently purchased one of your booklets but haven't had the chance to dive in yet...I'm forcing myself to finish a couple of other items first. Thanks for sharing your creativity!

Kate is great. I laughed out loud when I visited Knitty for the first time yesterday. My best friend's name is Kate, but I've called her nothing but Kitty since high school, so the idea of a kitten in britches is particularly amusing for me.

I'm with Leslie -- I saw knitty, saw Kate there on the cover, and thought, hey, there's another must-knit from Jessica. I'm so excited. Congratulations!

And I'm with Leslie and vj- I was also so excited to see another one of your fab must make creations. I also appreciate a kitten in britches- as a child, my mother often answered my "what for" questions with "what fer? Cat fur to make kitten britches". I used to muse on kitten britches quite a bit...

Okay, I just got a sure-shot sign that I have to knit Kate soon: my 1-year old daughter hugged the sheet of paper that I printed out the pattern on...:-)

I LOVE this knitted kitty. One of my best friends, at the very sight of it, picked up the phone. "Katie, I've finally founs something thats going to finally let me tech you how to knit in a round." (Knitting with double pointed needles in a round has been a phobia of mine, but this kitten is worth it.) So in one day, I have two kitten ears and akitty leg. =) Won't be too long.

my great grandma said "cat fur to make kitten britches" in response to "what fur?"...my southern family tends to slur a bit...never heard anyone else mention it!
love the toy!

My mom always said it, "Cat fur for kitten mittens" :) Her mom had been from Tennesee, so I don't know if that's a regional thing or what.

I made Kate for my boyfriend's one-year-old niece, and she was a big hit! I added a rattle to the inside of the stuffing, made out of a tiny plastic screw-top container filled with popcorn kernels. It makes a fantastic sound and keeps baby entertained. You can see it here: http://www.whatabouthoney.com/index.php?p=104

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I'm just mid-way through Kate. The pattern is GREAT - easy to follow along and fun.

I know that now, a year later, you aren't making robot books anymore, but maybe you could make a PDF for sale??? I'd still love me a robot booklet.

Best,
rebecca
